Sources have stated that the home ministry has turned down Google's proposal to cover Indian cities, tourist spots, hills and rivers under its application Street View that allows a user to explore places around the world through panoramic and street level three dimensional (3D) imagery.


As per the news from sources the proposal was rejected owing to concerns cited by security agencies and defense forces and the Google representatives had, in April 2015 have approached the home ministry with a presentation on its Street View service, and pitched it citing its uses in tourism and disaster management.


Meanwhile the Ministry of Home Affairs had on May 4th has made public the draft of the Bill that aims to regulate the acquisition, dissemination, publication and distribution of geospatial information of India which is likely to affect the security, sovereignty and integrity of India.


The Ministry has invited comments or suggestions within the next 30 days and the Google Street View which was displaying panoramas of stitched images, was catapulted in 2007 in the United States, and now covers many cities across the world.
