The state government of Andhra Pradesh is reportedly in the process of clearing the final decks for Bhogapuram International Airport which is expected to become a growth engine for the backward Uttarandhra region. This is one of the most prestigious projects being initiated in recent times.

Already AP government has managed to overcome the thorny land acquisition issue by offering more compensation package for the land losing farmers. The government will be unveiling the bid documents to rope in a private partner for the Bhogapuram International Airport (BIA) project by next year.

The Environmental impact assessment study would be reportedly completed in couple of months and this landmark is being executed on a public private partnership model where state government’s equity is land. All parameters are being adhered to without compromise.

According to sources, the first phase of BIA will cost an estimated at Rs 2,461.27 crore and require 2004.54 acres. The airport will be developed for operation of even Airbus A-380 type aircraft in the first phase itself along with a runway length of 3,800 metres!
