The state of Andhra Pradesh is now the first state in India for getting a telecom licence and it can be now issuing phone numbers starting with the ‘797’ series from the month of August. This has alo given AP the permission to commence internet based telephone service.

This is also without requiring any further registration since it has got the permission from the Telecom Ministry for starting an own IPTV — Internet Protocol based Television network which is now part of its Fibre Grid project. This is a path breaking technology.

Although the main aim of the government is providing affordable net connectivity in every corner of Andhra Pradesh, now the government can also provide free telephone services within the region by means internet including skype and have video calls.
Tenders have already been floated for making available around 10,000 ‘triple pay IP boxes’ which will be soon installed at households and from this, broadband internet connectivity will also be provided. Once this happens, the home entertainment for AP people will be class apart.
