Sources have stated that as many as 71,273 applicants of the total number of 1,34,994 eligible candidates who applied through Anna University’s single window counseling for admission to engineering courses are first-generation graduates. Of them, over 18% are girls. Among the total number of applicants, girls form 37%.
Earlier on Monday, random number for all the eligible applications was generated by the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions officials and the higher Education Secretary A. Karthik has keyed in the first 10 digit random number.
It is said that the director of Technical Education S. Madhumathi has provided the next two digits and the two numbers were provided by Anna University the registrar S. Ganesan and two numbers each were provided by a parent and media personnel.
Mr. Karthik has added that on Thursday, counseling for sports quota will begin and also the general counseling will begin on July 27 and is anticipated to go on for a month. Meanwhile the scrutiny for candidates under sports category began on Monday and the rank list will be released on Wednesday.
