Chennai based sources have stated that on Tuesday, 11,967 functionaries from various parties including the DMK, the DMDK, Congress and TMC have joined the ruling party as members in the presence of party supreme and Chief Minister Jayalalitha.
It is stated that after welcoming them into the party fold, Ms. Jayalalitha has given them the primary membership cards and has assured that the faith they have reposed on her would not go waste.
Some of those who have joined the party include Iniyan Sampath, TNCC leader E.V.K.S. Elangovan’s brother, who has dissolved his Tamil Desiya Katchi to join the AIADMK with his followers and V.S. Babu, former DMK MLA and former secretary of North Chennai unit of DMK.
Stating that the party’s aim was to ensure overall progress and inclusive growth, she hoped that the newly joined would strengthen her hands to make the State number one in the country and a large number of functionaries from the DMDK and about 1,500 women also joined the ruling party.
