Swathi Murder has caused huge uproar among Tamil Nadu and India. Ramkumar who was arrested as main accused is now in Hospital and he was thrown behind bars for 15 days. In this case, his father Paramasivam who spoke to media said,
"My son is innocent…We are being targeted just because we are Dalits. Police themselves cut his throat to prevent him from speaking out. On Saturday (June 25) night he was asleep in his usual place behind the house and two policemen knocked the door. They asked for Muthukumar.
My daughter said there was no Muthukumar…obviously it was a case of mistaken identity. But policemen went inside and when I was looking for my son, he was on the ground with his head on a Policeman's lap. He was bleeding from throat. They clicked images of my son bleeding. My son is innocent.
He could not have committed the murder. I believe that my son was arrested on misidentification. As the police were in great pressure from court, they fixed my son as the accused." Tirunelveli Police Vikraman said, "We did our job with sincerity and helped Chennai Police nab the accused. I have nothing more to comment."
