Sources from Namakkal have stated that work on construction of the additional bridge across the River Cauvery connecting Erode city and Pallipalayam Town and the Railway over Bridge (ROB) at SPB Colony would be thrown open for public in April 2017.
It is stated that Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy along with officials of State Highways Department has inspected the ongoing road works implemented by the department in the district on Wednesday and the widening of the Namakkal Tiruchengodu Road to four lanes for 30 km at a cost of Rs. 126 crore was currently in progress.
The collector has also inspected the widening of Omalur via Sankari, Tiruchengodu Paramathi Road for 26.20 km at Rs. 112.99 crore was also inspected and the ROB at SPB Colony being constructed at Rs. 44.15 crore and the bridge across River Cauvery constructed at Rs. 26 crore was also inspected.
Mr. Dakshinamoorthy has said that the construction and maintenance wing of the State Highways Department of the district is currently implementing 154 road works at Rs. 134.47 crore and 18 works at Rs. 3.40 crore under the Road Safety Scheme.
