The Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao has announced an ambitious plan wherein the government would be executing both Water Grid plan and Fibre Grid project simultaneously to bring both water and cheap broadband to entire state. This is a revolutionary move indeed.
However sources say that this plan has gone completely awry. This is mainly due to lack of coordination between his pet department of IT and the Rural Water departments. This plan would have saved double costs and also efforts but the ground reality is something else.
The water grid pipeline is coming up for a distance of nearly 4000 km and now the department of IT is facing lot of challenges to place an optical fibre grid for this entire length in Telangana state. This is just one of the many challenges they have if this project has to be executed.
Now, there has to be one more massive effort for digging the trenches and other vital infrastructure for Fibre Grid cables. As Andhra Pradesh is completing the same successfully earning nationwide attention, naturally there is more pressure on KTR now.
