People of Andhra Pradesh consider special status to the state as their birth right and deem it as a prestige issue after the heartless bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.During that time almost all political parties who contested the elections promised to accord special status to the state.

However after coming to power BJP led government at centre started ignoring and insulting AP people and their demand. Now Congress party the main culprit in the bifurcation tried to regain the lost ground in Andhra Pradesh by introducing special status bill in Rajya Sabha.

KVP.Ramachandra Rao,introduced special status bill and many felt that the bill was turned to football. While ruling BJP agreed to vote on KVP's bill, RS deputy chairman PJ.Kurien refused for the same.
Jagan's YSRCP MP Vijaya Sai Reddy said Congress divided the state and added he wanted to talk on the subject. At the sametime CM Ramesh of TDP demanded vote on the bill and Sujana Chowdhary too came with the same demand.

Minister Muqtar Abbas Naqvi too agreed for the same but Kurien stated that the discussion would be taken on alternative Friday which is the rule for the Private Member's bill. Congress MPs rushed to the well and demanded immediate discussion.
