Hyderabad sources have stated that motorists in the Old City are forced to drive through a rough patch owing to the torrential rains and lack of upkeep and despite civic chief B Janardhan Reddy ordering the GHMC's engineering wing to identify roads which were in bad shape.


According to officials of the south zone office there are 93 road stretches spanning 116.13 kilometers, which are in dire need of maintenance and the total cost of repairs for the work was pegged at Rs 24.18 crores, where all the roads that is presently identified are major bus plying routes.


S R Faheem, a resident of Tolichowki has told that the garb of additional duties, residents of the area are in no mood to hear them out, where the roads of the area have gone from bad to worse and it is extremely difficult for us to travel and the roads are pockmarked with potholes every 50 meters.


Srinivas Rao, zonal commissioner has said that they were aware of their short-comings, but are currently focusing on filling up potholes and only after the rains subside will we begin relaying all the damaged roads.
