Today India celebrates its 70th Independence Day and Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is some one who guided India towards Independence after the nation was under British rule for more than 200 years. Now we bring you list of some iconic movements lead by Gandhiji.


1. Champaran agitation:

Champaran farmers were being forced to grow Indigo and when they protested, British tormented them. Farmers asked for Gandhi's help and he managed to win concessions from the authority.


2. Kheda Satyagraha

Kheda is a village in Gujarat was hit by floods and local farmers demanded Tax exemption. Gandhi started an iconic campaign where peasants pledged nonpayment of taxes. By 1918, Government gave relief to the conditions of payment of tax


3. Khilafat Movement:

Gandhi's approach towards Muslim population increased after he found that Congress was eak. Gandhi arranged an All India Muslim Conference, and became the main person for the event. This movement helped Muslims so much and this success made him the National leader in quick time and also cemented his post in Congress party.


4. Non-cooperation Movement:

Gandhi realized that British had been able to get settled in India because of the cooperation they received from Indians. Then he decided to call for the non-cooperation movement. Gandhi set the goal of Swaraj or self-governance, which since then became the viral and the main of Indian freedom movement.
