Price of Subsidised cooking gas (LPG) was hiked by Rs.2 per cylinder and this is the third increase since July. However Jet fuel price was cut by 3.8%. As of now, a subsidised 14.2-kg cylinder will now cost Rs 425.06 in Delhi. The cost was earlier Rs.423.09.


This is the third straight increase in subsidised cooking gas since July when the government decided to go in for a small hike in rates every month to cut down subsidies. To recall, the rates were increased by Rs.1.93 per cylinder on August 16th.


And earlier the rate was hiked by Rs.1.98 on July 1st. A litre of Kerosene now costs Rs.15.93 in Mumbai. Delhi has been declared as a Kerosene Free state. This is the third hike in Kerosene too.


Diesel price was deregulated in November 2014 after the previous UPA government effected 50 paise hikes every month to eliminate subsidies. This hike has come as a shock for most middle class familes.
