Hyderabad sources have stated that Telangana government will agree to celebrate September 17th as Hyderabad Liberation Day , senior BJP leader and Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu has said on Saturday that it was unfortunate that some political parties viewed this issue through the prism of vote bank politics.
While addressing a crowd of students and others at KBR National Park here on Saturday morning where he led the Tiranga Yatra, Venkaiah has said that the BJP has been demanding the official celebration of the liberation of erstwhile Hyderabad for years.
He has stated that this issue despite being about national integrity got mired in vote bank politics and the "Hyderabad Liberation Day is celebrated officially on September 17th in some districts of Maharashtra and Karnataka. My suggestion to the Telangana government is to follow suit.
He has also said that political parties that ruled this region never highlighted the struggle and sacrifices made by many who worked for the liberation of the city and as per the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tiranga Yatrawill continue till September 17th.
