New Delhi sources have stated that the AAP government has told the Supreme Court on Monday that it was facing a governance crisis ever since the high court ruled that the LG had primacy in administration, as Delhi officials were "increasingly reluctant" to report to ministers.
When appearing for Delhi government, former
solicitor general Gopal Subramaniam has requested a bench headed by Chief
Justice T S Thakur to expeditiously decide the status of Delhi under the
Constitution's federal scheme and the bench will hear the appeal on Friday.
It is stated that with this, the battle between the AAP government and the Centre has reached the final stage and the Supreme Court will now settle the matter relating to powers of both parties.
Meanwhile the HC has failed to take into account the significance of the cabinet form of government in Delhi, where people have directly elected representatives and the council of ministers was collectively responsible to citizens of Delhi, just like in other states.
