New Delhi police sources have stated that Delhi Police will not provide security to chief minister Arvind Kejriwal during his trip to Punjab from September 8th to 11th because of issues related to protocol and inter-state jurisdiction.

As per the rule, Delhi Police is not authorized to provide complete security to a protective in other states and the PSOs usually do accompany the chief minister on such visits and the decision not to provide cover to the CM appears to be fallout of the strained relations between Kejriwal and the police force.

Sources have added that Kejriwal has been provided Z+ security by the Delhi Police with 51 policemen guarding him round the clock and earlier Kejriwal was given Z category security based on the Intelligence Bureau's assessment of the threat perception after he was elected CM.

It was stated that this was done keeping in mind the fact that people had managed to come extremely close to him and had thrown ink, slapped and punched him and there was also a threat from the Indian Mujahideen.
