Union Government issued formal notification on GST council which will decide on the tax rate, exempted goods and the threshold under the new taxation regime. Finance Minister Arubn Jaitley will chair the GST council and its first meeting will be held on September 22-23.Union Cabinet had approved setting up of all powerful GST Council, which is expected to thrash out a decision on all major aspects of GST roll out by November 22.


Congress to lose Arunachal Pradesh govt?

Congress got huge shock when 43 of the 44 legislators led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu joined the People’s Party of Arunachal, which is part of a BJP-led alliance. This will nullify Anti-Defection Law as the act says that if at least one-third of elected members of a political party leave, it would be considered as a merger. Congress is left with only Nabam Tuki, who aws earlier replaced by Khandu as CM in july this year. Supreme Court earlier restored Nabam Tuki's government quashing Union Government's decision to impose President's rule and then install Kalikho Pul as CM with its support. 


Two teenagers gang raped in Delhi park

In another shocking incident which tarnish Delhi's image even more, two teenage girls aged 17 and 18 were gang raped by five youngsters at Aman Vihar park in outer Delhi. The five criminals some of whom claim to be minors thrashed the male friends of the girls. Police arrested four of them while one of them was absconding. This triggered wide spread anger on Arvind Kejriwal government which is already facing heat over chikungunya deaths. 


Nitish government forced to challenge RJD MP Shahbuddin bail application

Nitish Kumar's government in Bihar was forced to filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the bail given to Shahabuddin, former RJD MP who was released by the Patna High Court. Nitish Kumar's action comes after a Siwan native, Chandrakeshwar Prasad, has alleged that three of his sons were murdered by the criminal convict and approached Supreme Court. Prashant Bhushan,noted lawyer filed application against Shahuddin in Supreme Court. 


13 Muslim youth sentenced for terror plot

Special terrorism court in Bengaluru sentenced 13 muslim youth to five year of rigorous imprisonment for being part of LET conspiracy of hatching terror attacks. The special court judge Muralidhar Pai said  the youths “are entitled for set off under section 428 of the Code of Criminal Procedure against the term of imprisonment”. 


Mulayam Singh ends crisis in SP

Mulayam Singh Yadav, SP chief finally came with a four point formula to end the crisis in the party whcih threatened to break the party. His four point formula ended rift between  Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, and party leader Shivpal, Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Yadav. Shivpal will remain UP's party chief ahead of the crucial assembly elections, CM Akhilesh will gie him all the portfolious and Mulayam will act against Amiar Singh who led him wrongly. Shivpal ally, Gayatri Prajapati+ , who was stripped of his mining ministry by Akhilesh earlier this week, will be reinstated, but with a different portfolio.


SC warn TN,Karnataka over bandhs and violence

Supreme Court came down heavily on Karnataka and Tamil Nadu governments for not following its orders on sharing of Cauvery river water.  Justice Dipak Misra told the panel lawyers of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, after summoning them to the front of the courtroom strongly remarked “We expect the governments of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to maintain their dignity and respect for rule of law. We reiterate that neither bandhs nor agitations can take place after the Supreme Court passed an order... Our order has to be complied with... Convey this to your governments today itself,”
