High alert in Vizianagaram, Srikakulam


Officials declared high alert in  Vizianagaram and Srikakulam with possible floods in several areas of the districts following heavy inflows into reservoirs. Vizianagaram Collector Vivek Yadav and Srikakulam Collector P.Lakshmi Narasimham said though there was no threat they are taking precautionary measures. Weather is clear for officials to conduct relief operations. Vamsadhara officials released almost 50,000 cusecs of water from Gotta barrage and around 55,000 cusecs were released from Madduvalasa reservoir.Meanwhile, water has steadily increased in the Nagavali river in Srikakulam town.

K.Narayana,national secretary of CPI attacked  the Central government for reneging on its promise to accord Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh and the State government for its inability to demand the same from its coalition partner. CPI is organising Praja Ballot to seek public opinion on SCS issue. He said both TDP and BJP will be ousted out of power in the next elections. 


Lucky escape for Vijayawada bus passengers 


Passengers of Vijayawada-bound private bus from Anantapur  heaved a sigh of relief when they had lucky escape. Three passengers were injured while 45 others escaped unhurt when the bus was  overturned at the Mynampadu crossroads within Santhanuthalapadu police station limits in Prakasam district on Sunday.The injured were rushed to  the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ongole for treatment.


SHAR to celebrate World Space Week


The Satish Dhawan Space Centre, also known as Sriharikota Range (SHAR), at Sriharikota, Nellore district is celebrating World Space Week. All the pace faring nations are celebrating the World Space Week from October 4 to 10 every year. P.Kunhikrishnan, director Shar said the World Space Week programme took a new shape this year by spreading the activities to the three States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu which are in the vicinity of SDSC SHAR.


IT raids on Chittoor MLA


Ruling TDP national vice president,DA.Satyaprabha who is also Chittoor MLA confirmed that  the Income Tax officials had conducted raids on her family's business firms elsewhere in Chennai and Bengaluru and other locations. She said that the IT officials had arrived into her complex on Friday afternoon and left on Saturday evening. She said IT officials didnot seize any cash or documents and they are clean on their part.

Tribals unaware of Adilabad trifurcation

Many tribals and adivasis,descendant of Kumaram Bheem are unawre of the trifurcation of Adilabad. Infact many are unhappy with the district. Infact many are unhappy with division of population among three districts with majority in residual Adilabad district.Kumram Sombai, granddaughter of Bheem, who works in the Ashram school at Jodeghat said “I heard elders discuss that a district is being named after my grandfather but I do not know where Mancherial is,”


Youth fined for Telangana slogan finally gets Minister's help


Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy finally has taken initiative to help A.Srikanth Reddy of Ranga Reddy who  selected for police constable post but denied order for being imposed fine in a case relating to pro-Telangana agitation. Srikanth Reddy raised Jai Telangana slogan when the then CM K.Rosaiah was at Yacharam,Ranga Reddy district. The youngster from Ranga Reddy district was selected for the post of stipendiary cadet trainee police constable (civil) in 2008 but was not issued order since he was involved in a case.


Migrant workers stranded in Manjeera river
 23 labourers from Madhya Pradesh and Odisha were stuck in Manjeera river at Yedupayala and Army is resucing them presing service Air Force helicopters to airlift the labourers. The operation couldn't be completed earlier due to bad weather.  The helicopters could not take off from their base in Hyderabad. 


All gates of  Sri Ram Sagar Project opened


Endowment Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy and Mission Bhagiratha vice-chairman V. Prashanth Reddy foprmally lifted two gates and discharged 25,000 cusecs around 6.15 pm.According to the latest All the 42 crest gates of the Sri Ram Sagar Project were lifted letting out over 2 lakh cusecs of water into Godavari with the reservoir receiving 4.43 lakh cusecs from upstream.


Metro rail to begin road restoration work


The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) authorities have formed 10 joint teams in order to tackle the civic situation in the city in view of the heavy downpour. The teams will take care of its corridors and work spots at different stretches. This came after Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K.T. Rama Rao and other ministers who were supervising the relief and road restoration measures. Each team formed by the HMR and L&T is headed by a Deputy Executive Engineer of HMRL.
