From many decades the Telugu people have always known only one mother, she is ‘Telugu Thalli’ and many eminent poets and writers have written several things about her. But thanks to politics today Andhra Pradesh has two mothers, Telugu Thalli and Telangana Thalli. This concept was brought forth by TRS president KCR.
He believes that Telangana region should have a separate mother. This gives rise to a question, is this the essence of Telangana Thalli? It could be that one has seen ‘Thalli’ statues according to languages but not according to regions. Today, KCR has been trying to erect as many Telangana Thalli statues as possible.
It could be to start a new tradition but the very fundamental that a ‘mother’ is respected and originated from the language we speak and not from the region we hail. But it has turned out to be a blessing for KCR to use the ‘Telangana Thalli’ concept and gain a lot of political mileage in his career.
