Generally during election time all parties try to lure people by promising various sops. But generally all those sops are with in the country and are confined to that particular state.
But in a sensational manner, on the eve of assembly elections in Punjab, people got attractive offer from political party. Ruling Shiromani Akali Dal promised to buy land to punjabis in US and Canada if they vote for them.
According to the poll manifesto released by deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal in Ludhiana on Wednesday, the Punjab government will buy one lakh acres in USA and Canada in addition to other countries to settle farmers abroad in professional farmer settlements.
SAD in its manifesto said "Apart from helping our farmers in pursuing agriculture in economic farms, this will also enable Punjabis to secure permanent resident status in those countries,"
But the party didnot offer any plan on how they can fulfill this poll promise if voted back to power. Akali spokesperson said "We are working on it. We will work out the details,"when asked whether US and Canada donot consider it as a state sponsored migration.
Sukhbir Badal is facing huge anti incumbency wave and speaking to scribes he said he was surprised that people are not understanding the infrastructure development. But Congress and AAP attack Badals for nepotism and favouritism and the doubled debt in their rule.
