Owaisi brothers are popular for their firebrand attitude and donot care attitude. They wield immense power in the old city but apart from it they are unable to expand their party across Telangana or Andhra Pradesh.
Asaduddin Owaisi however has been striving hard to turn MIM into a national party. MIM contested Maharashtra and Bihar assembly elections some time back. In Maharashtra it put up good show winning around 6 assembly seats shocking even the powerful regional party Shiv Sena. In Bihar too it made its presence felt.
Many parties and political analyts feel presence of MIM will be a spoiler for other secular parties as they divide the muslim votes. MIM is contesting Uttar Pradesh elections and Owaisi speaking to scribes said MIM will be a force to reckon with in the state.
He said “Till recently, there was no alternative in Uttar Pradesh. Today, there is an alternative space in politics which the MIM is trying to occupy,“ He added “Being an alternate means to give people a choice,“
