Generally martyrs and their families will be treated with lot of respect. But in India there is no such human touch. Politicians use them conveniently for their political gains and no party is immune to it. Congress, BJP or other regional parties and even the student wings of the respective parties are no different.
Now it is comingout that daughter of a Kargil martyr was threatened with rape for opposing ABVP. It is known that tempers increased in Delhi University's Ramjas College, with members of AISA and ABVP clashing on Wednesday over an invitation to JNU students Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid to address a seminar on ‘Culture of Protests’ which was was withdrawn by the college authorities following opposition by the ABVP.
It is known that Umar Khalid is out on bail following Anti India slogans in JNU,Delhi last year. Student of Delhi’s Lady Sri Ram Ram College, Gurmehar Kaur, the daughter of Kargil martyr Captain Mandeep Singh, after these incidents changed her facebook profile against ABVP which went viral on social media. She posted "I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me. #StudentsAgainstABVP".
Right after that she claims she got rape threats. She said "I have been getting a lot of threats on social media. I think it is very scary when people threaten you with violence or with rape," She said "Issuing rape threats "in the name of nationalism" is not right,"
She posted "Just listen to this. THIS is BJP. They will destroy our country. Everyone must rise against their goondaism,". She turned furious saying "Don't call me a Martyrs daughter if that bothers you. I never claimed anything otherwise. You can call me Gurmehar."
She found support in Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal of AAP and also from Congress.
