Congress led UPA government plans to introduce much hyped Food Security Bill through Ordinance in the house. Why the Govt need the urgency to pass the bill? Can this bill provide security to UPA in 2014?
Congress party is aiming to provide subsidized food to people who lived in BPL with Food Security Bill? This provides subsidized wheat and rice to 70 percent of India’s population. When implemented, the scheme will massively broaden an existing programme of providing cheap food to 218 million people. Everyone offered 5 kgs rice and wheat for 3/- and 2/- respectively. Govt believes by this majority of the people guaranteed with minimum food. This will be implemented from August’13 onwards. Opposition and UPA allies criticized the Govt for introducing the bill indirect way. Opposition has many doubts on this bill, Govt need to answer to their queries. Cultivation land was decreased every year in the country. The proposed bill is the largest social protection against hunger anywhere in the world. Its success will depend upon how far the executive effectively reach to all those who need food.
As per political analysts that Food Security Bill is pure election gimmick played by UPA govt. UPA govt is trying to make the people as beggars by this bill. Manmohan two terms remember forever in the minds of the people on Terrorist attacks, Petro hikes and many scams. To divert all these that happened in last 9 years, Govt propose the bill for votes in the name of Food Security.
