Ahead of the TRS plenary, rumours spread that Telangana CM KCR would elevate his son KTR as the working president of the party thus clearing decks for his appointment as the CM of the state.
Many predicted that KTR will be the next CM of Telangana and not only TRS cadre, entire opposition, and political analysts waited eagerly for the plenary.

However much to the shock of all, TRS plenary meeting was bereft of any surprises. KCR was elected once again as the working president.
Now many wondered by KCR who is known to take ruthless decisions didnot elevate his son. Sources say KCR must have felt that elevating his son KTR would open a can of worms inviting unnecessary troubles for the party ahead of the 2019 elections which are just two years away.
Even open invitation to Harish Rao by opposition parties Congress and BJP made KCR to defer his decision. Sources say there will be no question of KTR taking over the party reigns before 2019 elections.
