There is bad news for the likes of Minister Parthasarathy and good news for the common man. The supreme court has held that all politicians with criminal back grounds who often contest from jail even to bag political posts will now be denied that benefit. If convicted by any court all MPs and MLAs will be summarily disqulified from holding that post and also can make an appeal only after 3 months .
The Primary health minsiter Parthasarathy has been convicted in a FEMA violation case but the implementation of the verdict is withheld temporarily since last one year due to his political clout.
In a land mark judgement the Supreme court today held that once elected representative is held guilty by any court of law he will be immediately disqualified and can not also appeal for three months . The supreme court also held that political under trials prisoners also can not contest elections from the jail and if is convicted by courts he will be banned from contesting any elections .
