Sources have stated that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee yesterday once again launched a fierce attack on the Narendra Modi government, this time for the new rule that bans sale of cattle for slaughter at animal markets. Mamata called the centre's decision as 'unconstitutional' and had asked Modi government not to interfere in the affairs of the state.

Mamata Banerjee's TMC recently won four of the seven municipalities in the civic polls in West Bengal, even snatching the Gorkha Janmutki Morcha bastion of Mirik. The municipal polls which were dubbed as a fight between resurgent BJP and the TMC saw the latter winning the award convincingly and almost eliminating the competition.

Meanwhile beyond West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee is nowadays often seen working with the Opposition in cornering the Narendra Modi government in various issues. She had met Congress President Sonia Gandhi in a span of weeks to discuss a consensus candidate for the forthcoming Presidential polls.

Moreover besides attacking the Central government on issues such as demonetization, the TMC supremo had often devised other ways of taking in the government. At a time when opposition parties are trying to stitch to take front to take on the Narendra Modi government, Mamata Banerjee could be the front runner to lead such an alliance.
