Lucknow sources have reported that the gangrape survivor was allegedly attacked with acid in Uttar Pradesh for the fourth time in eight years, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, however, expressed doubts over the incident, saying it may have been staged to defame his government, even as opposition parties unleashed a barrage of criticism over the law and order situation in the state.

Sources have stated that this is the fifth time the 45 year old has been allegedly targeted. She had been stabbed in 2012. Meanwhile it was stated that the victim, who hails from Raebareli, was rushed to a hospital with burn injuries on her face and neck. Her condition was stated to be stable.
