An interim order was passed by the supreme court of India to extend the date for linking Aadhaar to various government schemes and plans to March 31, 2018. However, chief Justice Deepak Mishra restated that those people who haven't linked their bank accounts with Aadhaar must have to link it before the previous deadline.
The interim order, however, would be required to pass the verdict of the petitions against the validity of Aadhaar act as it violates privacy rights of common people. The apex court will next Consider petitions challenging deadline to link Aadhar to bank accounts on January 17, 2018.
As per the new notification on December 12, the words to submit Aadhar and pan before 31 December 2017 have been replaced by "Submit Aadhar, pan or Form 60 before any fate notified by the central government".It has also been clarified that, in case of new accounts opened, the Aadhaar Linking deadline will be 6 months from the date of opening of the account.
