According to sources Kerala police questioned Sunitha, 16 year old where her close relative Athira had been taking her for past few months. Sunitha said to a women police officer after consistent and persistent prodding that she was under sexual abuse for over a longer period y many men including policemen.
Earlier on Tuesday Alappuzha police had arrested Laiju who is a probationary sub inspector at the Mararikkulam Police station for sexually abusing class 11 student. Meanwhile the investigation department had nabbed a senior civil police officer from Bengaluru who has absconded on being booked for sexually abusing the teenager.
Sunitha’s father is a physically disabled man and her mother suffers from mental illness. Athira used to visit their house and takes Sunitha out. Sunitha remembered some names of people who abused her, which was easy for the police investigation. The SI said since Athira was their relative they did not suspect her. Presently Sunitha been shifted to state run home along with Athira’s 5 year old daughter.
