The AAP party has planned to file a new appeal against the disqualification of 20 MLAs. It must be noted that the election commission had recommended the disqualification of 20 MLAs who had held dual responsibilities with earnings from both the roles, and President Ramnath Kovind had accepted the recommendation.

Between March 13, 2015 and September 8, 2016, these MLAs had held dual responsibilities, and hence a recommendation to disqualify them was made on 19 January. The AAP party had made an appeal for an interim stay on this order, at the Delhi high court, but president Ramnath Kovind had given the order even before the verdict on this case was given by the high court.

Due to this sudden decision by the President, AAP had to withdraw the initial appeal made, and has decided to file a fresh reappeal against the move by election commission. Meanwhile, AAP supreme and Delhi chief Arvind Kejriwal is extremely annoyed by the decision to disqualify his MLAs without prior intimation.
