After numerous protests by various Hindu and Rajput outfits, the Bollywood drama Padmaavat by Sanjay Leela Bhansali had released finally on January 25. With heavy media attention for the last few months, the film faced many cuts and even a title change. Now, the Hindu Makkal Katchi President Arjun Sampath, who was against release, has appreciated Padmaavat adding that it's a must watch.
Arjun said, the movie portrays the India courage, capability, chastity and honour of Indian women, and depicts the sacrifice and life of Rani Padmaavati. Arjun said that they initially believed that the film glorified Alauddin Khilji and degraded Rani Padmaavati, which was why they protested earlier. The Hindu Makkal Katchi leader said that the ‘jauahar’ – mass self-immolation scene will surely give goose bumps to viewers.
Arjun further expressed that the
film also portrayed the death of Ratan Singh as per facts, and that he's ready
to talk to the protesters about the film. He also praised the performances of
those who acted movie. Padmaavat had faced huge trouble from karni Sena which
opposed release of the film in many states, demanding a ban, thinking that
Padmaavat showed the queen in bad taste.
