President Donald Trump invited US for a “new American moment” of unity in the State of the Union address. Trump appreciated a law enforcement agent for nabbing more than 100 gang members, while also recognizing families of two gang victims. He spoke of dangers as well, saying that North Korea might threaten the United States using nuclear missiles.

Trump added that lawmakers are working on resolving the status of people living in the US illegally ahead of the deadline of February 8. In a poll conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, it was found that 67 percent of Americans opined, America was divided because of Trump.  He spent time on a tax overhaul and the decision to withdraw the US from Asia-Pacific trade pact. Trump said, "Americans are dreamers too" to describe the youngsters in the US illegally.

Massachusetts Rep. Joe Kennedy, the grandson of Robert F. Kennedy, tried to damage Trump’s optimism, reminding personal attacks by the president. The guests included a New Mexico policeman, Ji Seong-ho from North Korea. Trump’s best foreign policy announcement in the address was of the Guantanamo Bay detention center, which the former President Barack Obama failed to shut down. Trump reversed Obama’s policy, signing an executive order directing the Pentagon to keep the prison open, and examining detention policy.
