In an unexpected move, Facebook India and south Asia's managing director Umang Bedi, has joined the news and regional language content based app Daily Hunt, as it's president. NewsHunt, which was rechristened to daily hunt, is owned by Bengaluru based verse innovation Pvt Ltd.

Bedi had infact emphasized in his recent interview that he was focused on doing something bigger at the local level when he resigned from Facebook, which made him realise the huge potential to shine at the local level with the made in India platform of Daily Hunt.

With more than 15 million app users, 14 regional languages covered and  about 800 publishing partners, daily hunt has a lion's share of the online reading community via its innovative strategies. Bedi added that, with strategic links with Yupp TV, VuClip, Daily Hunt provides access to video content and 130 live TV channels as well, making it a most used app, and it has also acquired a share worth 15 crores in One India, a popular news site.

With the online readers in vernacular languages expected to increase to humongous proportions by 2020, it is expected that Daily Hunt will reach even more audience, and daily hunt founder Virendra Gupta added that Umang Bedi's rich social media and content management and strategizing techniques will definitely ensure Daily Hunt's profits and reader base will be growing leaps and bounds in very lesser time.
