Hyderabad sources have reported that 10 parents on were jailed by a Hyderabad court for allowing their minor children to drive a vehicle. Meanwhile in a first of its kind, a 14 year old minor was sent to remand for a day in a juvenile home, to curb the menace of minors driving vehicles. Recently the court also slapped a fine of Rs 500 apart from sending the parents of the minors behind the bars and they were also charged under section 180 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
Further a road safety activist said, "If police book 10 more such cases on a regular basis, and if the court jails all of them, then we will surely see a change in parents as well as the impact on minors."

Ravinder said, "They are launching special drives in a number of places in
the city to curb minor driving and nobody is supposed to drive the vehicle
without driving license. Furthermore the parents of the minors are also liable
and nobody should give the vehicles to persons and minors who are not having
licenses."
