According to sources Maanik Sarkaar the senior leader of CPI (M) & Tripura CM, was poorest and most-uncorrupt Chief Minister in India and he's hailed for having least possessions despite ruling the state from 1998. Meanwhile in his election affidavit, the honest politician declared assets worth 50 lakhs on his wife's name and his bank balance as meager Rs 2400.

Accordingly with qualities and traits that exemplify a great leader, Maanik Sarkar gave up his government vehicle and traveled either by auto or his own vehicle and he used to donate his monthly salary to party (CPI-M) fund and made a living on the allowances offered by his party. Moreover in his two decades of leadership, Maanik Sarkaar never misused his power for his friends and family.

Sources have reported that such a great leader had lost to Bharatiya Janata Party, which was backboned with the master strategy of party president Amit Shah and former RSS leader Sunil Devdhar. Moreover Sarkaar didn't have any allegations against him, the CPI (M) which ruled for 25 years faced the anti-incumbency from the voters of Tripura. Furthermore after taking over the responsibilities of party in 2014, mastermind Sunil completely focused mainly on local issues and boosted the second-grade cadre. Previously from November 2014, Maharashtra born Sunil had at least spent 15 days a month in Tripura.
