According to sources Indian e-payment platform PayTM denied allegations that it is 'insisting' its customers to provide their Aadhaar card details as proof for Know Your Customer (KYC) authentication. Meanwhile several customers have come forward narrating experiences of how representatives of the company in KYC centres are insisting that they provide Aadhaar details and are refusing to accept other government documents as valid identity proof.

Meanwhile as per report Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules, several ID proofs are acceptable for the mandatory verification process. Accordingly the PayTM app also gives users a list of government documents that can be used to authenticate users including passport, voter ID, Driving License and NREGA job card.  Moreover currently customers of PayTM accuse the company of insisting on Aadhaar as representatives in KYC centres claim they only have the bio-metric identification machine to verify Aadhaar details and are not aware that other government documents could be accepted.
