Commonwealth medal winner Poonam Yadav who had won gold for India, had been attacked by unknown persons who had beaten her with stones, in a land dispute. In the Commonwealth games that were held in Australia's Gold coast city, had more than 100 countries participating. In the Commonwealth games, Poonam Yadav had won gold in women's 69 kg category weightlifting   competition.

 


Following the conclusion of the games Poonam Yadav had been to Varanasi to meet her relatives in the city.  During that time, several unknown strangers arrived at the place, and attacked her with bricks and stones.

As the shocked Poonam Yadav shouted for help, her parents and uncle who had come forward to protect her were also attacked. Following this violent attack, Poonam Yadav had called the police helpline number 100, and immediately police rushed to the spot and rescued her, and sent her to her house, and she was given protection.
