The association for Democratic reforms has come up with a report, according to which nearly 48 MPs and MLAs of the country are involved in crimes against women, and have cases filed against them. In a shocking fact, the ruling BJP party has the highest number of such politicians, with 12 members with criminal cases.
This report has come at a time when the whole nation is burning over the Unao rape case, and has shocked the whole nation. The report was based on an analysis of 1580 MPs and MLAs, and it was found that of the 33% involved in the study, 48 were accused in women related crimes. Besides 45 MLAs, 3 MPs were found in the list.
Among the states, Maharashtra with
12 has the highest, while West Bengal with 11 and Orissa, Andhra Pradesh with 5
MPs and MLAs are in the top of the crime list. The biggest parties of India
have given tickets to 26 candidates with rape cases. BJP has given tickets to
47 in the last 5 years, while BSP has given tickets to 35, and Congress to
24.
