In the recent attack by defense forces in Maharashtra, the Maoist forces there have faced a huge setback, with not just deaths of their members, but also economic losses of heavy proportions. The Dhandakarunya, Dhandewada hills between Telengana, Maharashtra, Odisha, Chattisgarh borders, has been the unconquered fortress of the Maoists.

The camps of the defense armed forces, who are actively involved in protecting the nation from evil forces, are located at these locations. The Beedi leaves grown in these regions are the major source of income of the Maoists. The trade has been very much favorable for the Maoists, giving them returns of more than 100 crores per year.  Even the recent demonetization activity didn't have any impact on the trade for the Maoists, and that was very well exposed.

In this situation, in a recent attack held at Katchroli of Maharashtra by the Defense forces, 37 Maoists were killed, when they had went to bath at the Indravathi River. With this attack, the defense forces also took control of the Indravathi river zone, known for growth of beedi leaves, thereby impacting the economy of Maoists.
