The renowned software giant Microsoft has conducted a raid in the office of one of the most important members of the ruling BJP party, Vineet Goenka’s office. The raid was conducted to check if the software used in the office was a licensed version or an unauthorized pirated version.

It has been a custom for Microsoft to conduct such raids in big IT offices in a regular basis, and these raids are to identify if any of the systems of the company make use of illegal software. Microsoft conducts such raids in every country, by partnering with some indigenous company. In India, these raids are conducted by KPMG, and as per their schedule, they had visited the company of Vineet Goenka and conducted a raid to search for the usage of illegal pirated software.

The company had identified that some of the systems did not have the legal software installed with original license, but were using pirated versions. Following an opposing statement by Vineet Goenka, now, senior members of BJP party too have opposed this sudden raid conducted by Microsoft. Following the rising agitation, Microsoft India's Indian Secretary Rajiv Sodhi has apologized for the raid conducted, but despite the apology, BJP has decided to file a case against Microsoft.
