The proposed Telugu Atma Gouravam Yaathra (Self respect yaathra) is being hedged upon by Chandrababu Naidu as the last and final bet before the party faces general elections in 2014. It has to be remembered that TDP won an election way back in 1999. It had missed the boat by a slender margin in 2009.
2014 is a do or die year for Telugu Desam and at a time when the recent Panchayat polls had given the party the much needed oxygen the Congress leadership dropped the bifurcation bomb on the sate and yes, TDP too. While TRS-Congress-MIM combine are set to take Telangana YSRCP is again on an upward swing in Seemandhra thanks to the party’s U turn on Telangana.
As a statewide regional party with considerable cadre, it is only TDP which needs to face an uphill task all over the state and in this regard Babu hopes to do a final consolidation of votes with his proposed yaathra. It will be interesting to watch whether Naidu will give a final push to his party or script the final downfall!
