DGP Rajendran recently confirmed that the situation has been under control and more than 3,000 cops were deployed for further protection. Sterlite Staff quarters was also ransacked by the protesters. The local media and state media reporters who went for coverage were also injured.
DMK MLA Geetha Jeevan was arrested who joined the protesters. Despite, Section 144 was imposed, the protesters marched to the Collector's Office. A Protester said, "The violence was started by the Police themselves. They manhandled the kids and even women. We have to pelt stones to protect ourselves. No Politicians or Political party were involved. We just wanted to end the pollution by Sterlite."
