Indian polity has  shown  once  again  that   Parliament  is supreme  and even above  Supreme court .Inwhat would be a major  relief toYSRC  chief  Jagan  and also others  Rajya sabha yesterday amended   law  to  reject  court  strictures on election  contest  and voting  by criminals . Ironically  the move  came when  YSRC delegation led by Vijayamma was in Delhi  to meet PM and President

Now YS Jagan who has been nailed and jailed in  falsely hoisted  case by CBI  can not only contest elections but also vote and become CM, with the peoples support , says a senior   YSRC spokesman M V Mysura Reddy. Union lawminister Kapil sibal movedthe   amendment bill on Representation of Peoples Act  in Rajya Sabha  yesterday  and the same  has been okeyed.  with out  any  dissent . All that means   is  that YS Jagan can contest   elections  even   he  is  jailed  for over one year and also win  elections from jail.

The victory of the bill however spells doom for democracry in the country as it has not only  vetoed against  Supreme court  but also had held a candle for the criminals  and law violators. A survey had shown that  35  percent of  MPs  in 2013 parliament  were criminals  . The survey also said that  the  MPs with  criminal   backgrounds  had better chances of wining the  2014 elections than those with  spotless character .
