Dussehra is a period when people of India celebrate the prevalence of good over bad, and in Kolkata especially, Dussehra is celebrated with huge vigor and enthusiasm, and it is one of the times of the year when the whole of the city will be filled with lights and will be glowing.



The Kolkata Durga Pooja is the last 6 days of the Dussehra period, and the city will live up to its sobriquet of City of Joy during that period, and the people of the city dance, play music, play games, enjoy by making sweets and sharing with people, and that is a huge culture which has been inspiring many.


Just like how Mumbai celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi, Kolkata celebrates Durga Pooja, and one of the major features of the festival happens to be the Pandals, and more than 3000 pandals will be made during the festival, and they are formed at least 5 months prior to the festival of Dussehra, and some of the major pandals include Suruchi Sana, College Square, Kumurtuli park, and Jodhpur park. The city will be filled throughout with colorful lightings and with special street food festivals.
