Chennai sources made a statement that Tamilnadu government swears it would not permit Sterlite to resume operations in Thoothukudi come what may and the opposition parties have stepped up campaign to ensure the copper plant stays shut, but the Vedanta boss Anil Aggarwal is confident he would see his factory up and operating pretty soon “Absolutely.



The metal tycoon said “It should be (reopened) very soon”, Aggarwal shot back when a reporter asked him at his media interaction in Delhi on Monday whether Vedanta’s Sterlite plant would reopen in Thoothukudi and they are going through the NGT (National Green Tribunal) process and once the verdict is completed, and that should be applicable to everybody”.

Accordingly “Tuticorin is one of the most beautiful plants producing copper”, said Aggarwal and explained how important copper production was for the industrial development in the country. Moreover for 22 years we have been working and people are working there and they have to make sure that people are satisfied and convinced, they are our people.
