Come September the Hyderabad city is threatened of communal tensions and also huge garbage collections in view of the Ramzan Bonalu and Ganesh festivals coming one after another.Normally the quantum of garbage in Hyderabad went up five times during the Ganesh festival and on last two days it is always at peak. From a normal 2000 tons per day.

Husseinsagar lake has always been target of pollution as it received industrial waste from sewerages of Balanagar in addition to immersion of 30,000 Ganesh statues every year.Even as the battle of wits and words between Environmentalists and the GHMC has become an ongoing and routine issue, the sordid shape of Necklace Road, Husseinsagar lake, its stink and garbage have turned Hyderabad’s truly historic fresh water lake into a garbage dump.  Since 1978 about  200 tonnes of metal, chemicals and POP are dumped into Husseinsagar lake forming  huge mounds  at the lake bed. 'In another 5 to ten years ,there will be no place for water  in the lake'say  irrigation officials.

The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee secretary Bhagavanth Rao demanding that the Government should not collect  power charges for Ganesh pandals in same breath it had waived Rs.1 crore for Ramazan .’All this talk that Ganesh festival bred pollution, is  just anti-Hindu campaign.
