According to sources Netflix's 'Bird Box' series, which released on 21 December, 2018, has had more than 45,037,125 accounts viewing its psychological thriller which features Sandra Bullock in the lead role and directed by Susanne Bier. Reportedly things got too far when fans started the #BirdBoxChallenge, where one had to perform everyday tasks blindfolded.
Meanwhile in the Web series, Sandra Bullock and the rest of the characters are seen wearing blindfolds to avoid mysterious forces, because when seen it could make you commit suicide if they make eye contact. Furthermore the people in the film are forced to rely on their other senses to move through the world and this challenge went viral on social media and people started posting videos of them blindfolded and trying to perform various tasks.
Moreover Netflix issued a warning to the viewers about Bird Box, writing, "Can't believe I have to say this, but: Please Do Not Hurt Yourselves With This Bird Box Challenge. We don't know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes."
