This is the first election after the death of both M Karunanidhi and Jayalalitha, and hence this particular election has got more attention than ever in Tamilnadu. As far as Thoothukudi is concerned, it has been predominantly occupied by Nadar voters, and there have always been talks to field Kanimozhi from DMK, and now, there are rumors that after the meeting of Samathuva makkal katchi leader Sarathkumar with CM Edappadi Palanisamy, Radhika Sarathkumar might be fielded as ADMK - SMK alliance candidate in Thoothukudi as Sarathkumar can woo Nadar votes in the city.
Sarath had been an MLA from Tenkasi during Jayalalitha's tenure and since Radhika is a known face thanks to her serials, it is possible that Radhika might fight Kanimozhi in Thoothukudi.
