Reportedly Owaisi a three time MP from Hyderabad constituency, likely to contest in Uttar Pradesh in addition to Hyderabad in the upcoming elections. Meanwhile in a recent party meeting in Hyderabad, AIMIM Uttar Pradesh chief Shaukat Ali proposed the same idea to Owaisi. Owaisi replied that his contest from UP will leave many people sleepless in the state.
Even though Owaisi and his party is yet to take a call on it, his party
believes that if Owaisi contests from UP, it will be from Muslim dominated
constituencies like Azamgarh, Rampur, Ferozabad, and Saharanpur. Many are
already aware of the fact that Samajwadi party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)
are in alliance for 2019 Lok Sabha elections and Congress is contesting alone
in the UP.
Moreover with Owaisi's entry in UP, the Muslim voters who are generally seen voting against BJP, will get divided between all these parties. Reportedly in the last Assembly elections, AIMIM fielded candidates in UP but couldn't win any seats. Presently with Owaisi's entry, will the party be able to gain any LS seats is to observed closely.
