In the upcoming Parliament Elections in Telangana, PCC chief Uttamkumar Reddy may contest from the Nalgonda parliamentary constituency on the demand of Congress' High Command. Local leaders of the district are pressing Uttam to contest from Nalgonda and AICC president Rahul Gandhi has confirmed Uttam's candidacy.

In the crisis situation, Rahul Gandhi has suggested that Uttam should contest so as to uplift the spirits of the party leaders and activists. Finally,  Uttam Kumar Reddy candidature was finalized by the Congress party central election committee unanimously. In the first phase, the Congress high command finalized candidates for eight seats in Telangana.

The rest of the seats are kept pending. There is a possibility to name a list in the list today and Uttam's name may figure in the list. Congress already lost eight of its MLAs to TRS. If now Uttam also resigns and is unable to win the Nalgonda Parliament seat, it will be a double loss for Congress in Telangana.
