According to sources the crime Branch CID of the Tamilnadu Police has summoned Thendral Manimaran, 27, son of DMK district secretary (Coimbatore rural) Thendral Selvaraj, to ask him about his proximity with Thirunavvukkarasu, the prime suspect in the Pollachi sexual abuse case. Reportedly Thirunavakkarasu had Manimaran's name during the inquiry. Manimaran was asked to appear before the investigation officer in Coimbatore on March 28.

Meanwhile, the CB-CID also summoned A Nagaraj alias Muthusamy, 28, of Pollachi in connection with the case who was the AIADMK functionary and was expelled from the party after he was called for the inquiry. Furthermore, both of them were called for questioning based on the statement of the prime accused. Police officials said the four men sexually harassed dozens of women over 50 of them for over two years across Tamilnadu. Further among them were teachers and students from schools and colleges.

Moreover, the officials described a chilling pattern in this sexual abuse. They said, they have found victims on Facebook and forced them to meet in person after befriending them and later harassed them in moving vehicles, hotels or farmhouses. Accordingly, most of the victims refused to make formal complaints and the police say they have retrieved videos from the gang that show sexual harassment or assault.
